HYCCT1501B ~seriously amazing~

Hello Blogger Friends and happy Saturday to you all. Can you believe it is the last day of October? Where in the world did this month go. I started off my month in San Francisco with my sweet granddaughter Phoenix Daisy but that seems like ages ago now.

I have been busy with Pre-School stuff and helping to prepare lessons. And speaking of preschool this week the kids were coughing nd sneezing. Guess who has a sore throat and achy body? If you said me you're right (lol).

I was supposed to make some beef stew and take it over to have dinner with my Mother-in-law. She loves stew but my hubby doesn't think I should go over and possibly make her sick. I am so disappointed and she will be also.

I will have to make it again soon and take some to her. In the meantime, I need to get myself feeling better. Who wants to be sick on a gorgeous fall week-end? Not me that's for sure. We had plans both today and Sunday.

Now onto my card for today. This is another I made for the Hope You can Cling To Challenges on Splitcoaststampers. For this HYCCt1501B challenge Dini was our hostess and she wanted us to use hands in some way on our cards. She gave us 3 different suggestions, and I chose the option of using my fingers to apply a coloring medium on my card.

Yes, I made fingerprints on my card. Just 5 of them on the die cut heart panel but it qualified for this challenge. I like how it turned out.

For my card I used some of the contents from the Stampin'-Up Paper Pumpkin kit from August 2014. That would be the striped designer paper, the die cut heart and the circles and mini brads.

I really like the Paper Pumpkin Kits I get from Stampin'-Up. You should check them out. They are a fun way to get stamping supplies and make some cute cards in the process.

Well, it's time to get on with my day. So until next time my friends..... God bless.

HYCCT1511 ~heard you need a lift~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. It's been a busy start to the week.

Sunday, I attended my niece's bridal shower. It was so elegant and there was even a theme. They titled it "Brunch & Bubbly".

She is using a metallic theme for her invitations. I have seen a sample and they are really beautiful. The metallic theme was carried throughout the shower from the invitations to the table decorations as well as the other decorations around the venue. Her bridesmaids did a great job of putting this even on for Rachel.

Then at preschool this week we were preparing for our Student Art Gallery. Each class had quite a bit of the kid's art projects. Tonight was the showing and parents as well as grandparents came out to see the art projects. I was so impressed with our turnout. And the kids were so anxious to show off their work.

I am still working on my Hope You Can Cling To challenge cards. The challenges will be officially over on Saturday, October 31. Then we have until November 7 to get our cards uploaded. I was able to make 4 cards today. But I will need to keep that pace up for the next week. Hopefully I can do it. Wish me success!!!

Now onto my card for today. This was made for HYCCT1511.  Kim is our hostess and she wants us to create a card that features a mode of transportation. ANY transportation...cars, bicycles, trains....

Since I knew I would be using the CC553 challenge colors, I looked for my layout first. I am using the October week 3 Viva la Verve sketch. Then I looked for my designer paper. I chose this old olive striped paper from the Stampin'-Up "etcetera collection".

My bicycle image is a die from Cheery Lynn Designs cut in bermuda bay. My flags are dies from Verve and I cut in calypso coral.. I added some Stampin'-up candy dots in elegant eggplant and also stamped my sentiment in elegant eggplant. The sentiment is from the Waltzingmouse set "half pint heroines".

Completed my card by adding some die cut hearts to the wheels. Well, it's late and time to dim the lights in Charmed Life Land for another day. So until next time......God bless.

HYCCT1506 ~Love~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. It's a lovely fall weekend here in Pittsburgh.

Yesterday we went to our neighbors wedding reception. It was held at The Overton Museum and Distillery, a historic and quaint site east of Pittsburgh.
The wedding reception itself was held in their barn. It was decorated so beautifully.

I helped out with the wedding invitations and also the table favors. Tijana was such a beautiful bride and she did a fabulous job of creating the wedding of her dreams. I was glad to have a small hand in it.

Now onto my card for today. This is another I made for the Hope You can Cling To Challenges on Splitcoaststampers. For this HYCCT1506 challenge, Stacy is the hostess and she wants us to create a card with a trio of hearts and add in some red somewhere too.

For my card I used the Love border die from Impression Obsession. The top hearts are from Cheery Lynn Designs and the bottom heart is from Spellbinders.

I completed my card with my sentiment. It's from the Verve "stronger love" set. I thought this would be a nice Valentine card or even on just to let the one you love know it. It will be sent off the MD Andersen Cancer Center in Texas.

Well, that's it for me for today. I am off to my craft room to make some more cards for these challenges. I am so far behind and hoping to get at least 4 cards made today.

So until next time blogger friends.........God bless.

HYCCT1502 ~eclectic collage~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog.

I mentioned the other day that we were forecasted to have a frost. Well we had it and it took out our zinnias and dahlias. I am so glad that I cut about 15 dahlias on Saturday and am now enjoying them inside. My hubby picked the remaining veggies- green peppers, beets and carrots. So its all over now until next year.

Today was my day at preschool. The kids had a lot of energy today. We have 8 boys in this class who like to wrestle and just be little boys. Today I got a chuckle from one of the little girls who told the boys to "knock it off". Her Dad says she likes to take charge.

We have a playground area and we take them out for about 20 minutes to play. It helps them to work out some energy especially with the boys.

I am always tired at the end of the day on Tuesdays and Thursdays. But, I just love being with the kids. Investing into their lives is a wonderful opportunity that I have been given.

Now onto my card for today. This is another one of my Hope You Can Cling To challenge cards. As well as my sample card for the color challenge on Splitcoaststampers.

The color challenge #553 where Barbara is hostess has us using elegant eggplant, calypso coral, old olive and Bermuda bay. Our option was to add pearls or rhinestones.

elegant eggplant, calypso coral, old olive,

HYCCT1502 - Teresa wants us to create a freestyle collage.

I started my collage by sponging the background with Bermuda bay ink and a honeycomb stencil from Memory Box. I used the Stampin'-Up set "kinda eclectic" for my collage elements.

I added some May Arts mesh ribbon and coral floss for a little additional interest. The butterfly is cut with an Elizabeth Crafts die with eggplant designer paper and then the shadow is eggplant cardstock.

My sentiment is from the Stampin'-Up set "butterfly basics" and is stamped in elegant eggplant ink.

This card is not my usual style but I like how it turned out. And with that being said, it is time to dim the lights in Charmed Life Land for another day. So until next time.....God bless.

HYCCT1501C ~Hope~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with the Charmed Life Blog. It's a cold, fall Sunday here in Pittsburgh. We had some frost overnight but the plants my husband wanted to save he covered and the container plants are in our garage.

Today was our 25th church anniversary. We had a potluck luncheon after service. There was so much food and most of it was really good. We have some great cooks at our church, I tell ya!

I made a pork loin with apple gravy. I cooked it in my crock pot. Had to get up at 4:30 to get it on but I was able to go back to sleep.

For this recipe I cut up 3 gala apples and 2 jars of pork gravy (I used Heinz brand). I chopped some sage, garlic, salt and pepper to use as a rub over the pork loin. When its cooked you take the apples and put them in a food processor along with the broth and serve as a gravy. It went over very well with everyone. I didn't have to bring any home because it was all eaten.

The afternoon we spent relaxing and I even took a nap. So here I am now on Sunday night watching football with the hubby and typing my blog post.

This is another card I made for the HYCCT challenges on Splitcoaststampers. Lori was the hostess for this one. She wants us to "split the difference" and make a full card front scene, split into two with a sentiment strip.

For my card layout, I used this older sketch from "Case This Sketch #144. I thought this layout was perfect for Lori's challenge as well.

My butterflies are punched with a MS butterfly punch in pretty in pink, primrose petals and raspberry ripple card stocks. I was going after an ombre look.

I die cut a ribbon tag from a Spellbinders die in raspberry ripple and stamped my sentiment. I used some raspberry ripple ribbon to extend the sentiment across the card.  This stamp set was given to me by a friend of mine without any packaging so I don't know who makes it.
That's my card for today. It's late and time to dim the lights in Charmed Life Land for another day. So until next time.........God bless.

Stamps: unknown
Paper: primrose petals, raspberry ripple, pretty in pink Paper Size: A2

HYCCT1501A ~gray skies~

Hello Blogger Friends!!! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with the Charmed Life Blog.

Can you believe it's already mid-October? We are expecting our first frost of this fall season tonight. I cut a bunch of dahlia's from our garden before the frost kills them. They bloom profusely in fall and I will be sorry to see them go for another year.

My hubby brought in most of our container plants and covered some others in the garden. They will have another 10-14 days before covering wont even help.

Now onto my card for today. I am participating once again this year in the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges over on Splitcoaststampers. Splitcoaststampers partners with the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center for the sixth annual month long card drive to benefit those affected by breast cancer.

There are special challenges in the Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling To Challenge Forum to inspire you throughout the month, and they have some fun giveaways, including of course, some pink!
The campaign started with three challenges on October 1st, and there are challenges each day in October.

The goal is to send all of the cards that you make to the Cancer Center in Texas. This is my 5th year being a part of the campaign. The past 3 years I have completed all the challenges. That is my goal this year as well, but I am already behind. I was away in San Francisco for the start of it and then when I returned I had some other commitments. So I Have to get a move on it.

This card was made for the HYCCT1501A challenge. It was the first challenge posted. Lydia was the hostess and she wants us to make a card representing our lest favorite weather condition. I decided to make one with rain.

I don't like driving when it's raining especially when the rain ponds on the roadways. It makes for a somewhat hazardous drive. So that's the direction I took with my card.

For my card I used some new to me Memory Box dies to create a little rainstorm. The clouds and raindrops are cut from basic gray cardstock. The card background is smoky slate to give the appearance of an overcast day.

The umbrella is also a Memory Box die cut from Stampin'-Up "sweet taffy" designer paper. The sentiment is from the Stampin'-Up set "see ya later". I highlighted the "happy" word in melon mambo ink.

I added some hearts and a pink cloud to complete my card.  A Clean and Simple card and that is unusual for me but I like how it turned out.

Well, it's time to dim the lights in Charmed Life Land for another day. So until next time.......God bless.

~Joy~

Happy Sunday Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. Hope you are enjoying this Columbus Day holiday weekend. Especially if you have the day off work tomorrow!! And to all my Canadian friends, I hope your Thanksgiving Day celebration is a blessed one.

I spent the weekend getting caught up on household stuff. One of the biggie things I was dealing with is a lost I-Pad. When I was in San Francisco my hubby was at the Monro Muffler store here in our community getting an oil change.

He left his IPad there and when he went back to inquire, it was gone. No surprise there. He put in a police report and I put the IPad in lost mode. So if anyone tries to connect to the internet they will get a message that the IPad has been lost and it gives his cell phone number. We also had a passcode set-up on the IPad and the Apple support teams is saying that should keep anyone from being able to use it.

The police said they will visit the store and also check pawn shops. I don't know if we will get it back but I am hoping. It is still under warranty as he just got it last Christmas. I also think I will send a letter to Monro Corporate and let them know what happened.

So now onto my card for today. This one puts me in Christmas mode and out of lost I-Pad mode 9lol)!! The most wonderful time of the year.

I made it for the color challenge #545 on Splitcoaststampers. Karen was our hostess and she had a metallic gold and vanilla challenge.

I thought these colors were so elegant for a Christmas card. So that's what I did for my sample. It's has lots of layers-5 layers of cardstock and then the ribbons.

The camera just doesn't capture the shimmer and shine with this mirror gold cardstock. This was the best picture I could get.

My card is an A6 size. I used the Taylored Expressions quatrefoil cutting plate and cut it in the shimmery vanilla cardstock. Layered over the mirror gold cardstock.

The Joy word is from the Stampin'-Up wreath framelits die set. I cut in gold and
vanilla and did a slight offset. The snowflake is from Impression Obsession and I added a few gold accents.

To complete my card I used some Stampin-Up cotton twill in vanilla and layered gold over that. Another Christmas card for my stash. I plan on making a few more in this style and these colors. I like how it turned out.

Well, my friends time to close this post. So until next time......God bless.

~Sending You Sunshine~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. I have just returned from my trip to San Francisco. Now I just have to get my body adjusted to East Coast time again.

I was there taking care of my granddaughter while her parents went away for a little r & r. We had a wonderful time together and that little ball of energy just wore me out. But we always make memories together that will be shared over and over again.

She loves to draw and color so I put together a box of stuff for her that included stamps, ink, stickers and cardstock. Cleaned out some of my stash for her and she loved it. I bought some kids washable ink for her. She stamped a few cards while we there. She even colored the images that she stamped. It will be a fun activity for her and my daughter-in-law.

Now onto my card for today. this one I made for the color challenge #550 on Splitcoaststampers. Vicki was our hostess and she chose marina mist, soft sky and daffodil delight for her color palette. Our option was to make a background sky.

soft sky, marina mist, daffodil delight

I made this as a card of encouragement. You never know when you need one and I don't have any on hand. Little did I know that I would be sending this to my bff as she was just diagnosed with breast cancer. That bit of shocking news came to me just yesterday.

I used this card from one of my Pinterest boards as inspiration to create my card. Love all the card ideas that are pinned there on the site.

My background is sponged with the MFT stencil sunray die. The sun and clouds are also dies from MFT.

My sunshine word is part of the sunshine frame die from Simon Says Stamp. I cut in soft sky and then slightly offset it with marina mist. The "sending you" sentiment is part of a stamp from Great Impressions.

Well that's my card for today. So until next time........God bless.

~Teacher Thanks~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. I am out in San Francisco taking care of my sweet 4y old granddaughter. Mommy and Daddy went away for a few days for a little r & r. My hubby didn't make the trip this time. His work schedule just couldn't be adjusted for this trip.

I had a wonderful first day with Phoenix Daisy. She goes to preschool for 3hrs each morning. So after I picked her up we did our usual and went to the ice cream parlor. Then we played with her babies for 4 1/2 hrs. She has 5 of them and she is quite creative in thinking up things to do with them. Today it was birthday parties and going to the park to play.

Needless to say at the end of the day I was exhausted. She is in bed now and I am just relaxing a bit before bedtime. So I thought I would do this blog post because during the day there is no time except Phoenix time (lol)!!!

This one I made for my daughter-in-law who happens to be Phoenix Daisy's Mommy. She is a teacher and I make her a card to honor her and the start of a new school year.
I made one similar to this and gave it to our Preschool director for the start of year. See that here.

I used similar colors but changed the pencil layout and card base and layering colors. This one I actually like better than the original. And thanks to a technique suggested by my friend Barbara Joyce it was actually a bit easier to stamp and die cut on this card.

I used my MISTI tool for stamping first and then did my die-cutting. For the die-cutting, I cut a pencil from scrap card stock. Then I placed the negative piece over my stamped image and placed my metal die in the negative die cut. It worked fairly seamlessly. The first 2 times around with this set and dies were so frustrating for me.

This PTI set is 2 step stamping at a difficult level without the use of a MISTI tool or a stamp-a-ma-jig. But there are no directions or help from PTI so I am grateful to my friend for giving me some very helpful pointers.

On the background I used the Stampin'-Up "alphabet press" embossing folder, and it's layered on crushed curry cardstock. Card base is cherry cobbler. Cut a few stars with an MFT die to complete this card.

Well. it's time to close this post. Phoenix Daisy will be up early and I have a full day with her. So until next time........god bless.

Ink: pumpkin pie, crushed curry, cherry cobbler,(Stampin'-Up) peeled paint distress (Ranger)
