~It's A Boy~

Happy Wednesday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. Well we had a touch of winter weather back with us yesterday. It was snowy and cold all day. No accumulation of snow just a shocker to your body after temps of 82° on Sunday. But, it is supposed to warm up again in the next few days.

I am having Easter dinner at my home with my son, daughter-in-law and grandsons. Still working on my dinner menu but I do know the main dish will be an Easter ham. We only have that once a year and my hubby likes it on Easter. Have to check out the local stores to see who has the best price.

Now onto my card for today. I needed a baby card for my nephew and wife. They just had a baby boy and it is their first.

I used the layout from the Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge #483. Janette was the hostess and she provided a great layout for us. I love the look of angled panels.

My background designer paper from DCWV the "nana's kids prints" collection.  The bottom angled panel is barely banana and I used the Stampin-Up alphabet embossing folder. The card colors are from the Color Throwdown #287.
My elephant is a Memory Box stamp and matching die. I stamped in soft sky on barely banana cardstock.

Sentiment is from the Verve set "practically perfect". Added some abc corner embellies to complete my card. I bought these years ago from QVC. Yay for using up stash supplies.
Well, time to get started with my day. Lots of odds and ends to take care of in the house before Sunday. So until next time........God bless.

~Calvary Crosses~

Happy Saturday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. I am back home after a few days taking care of my grandsons. Loved the time spent with them.
It's going to be a beautiful week-end weather-wise here in Pittsburgh. The sun is shining and the temps are going to be warm, warm, warm!!!! Yay - good-bye to cold, dreary weather for now anyway.

Yesterday was our last fish fry of the year at our church. It was busy and a long work day for us in the kitchen. But, it's been fun these last 5 weeks. My shrimp and crab chowder sold out again. I received so many compliments. That always makes me feel good because its a lot of work. But, to know that people appreciate the work behind it all is great.

Now onto my card for today. This one I made for the color challenge #473 on Splitcoaststampers. Vicki was our hostess and shose the color combo of pool party, so saffron and sahara sand.

I started my card by sponging the background in a sunshine pattern with wild honey distressed ink on white cardstock. I followed this tutorial by Gina K found on the StampTV site.
But basically I used a scrap piece of cardstock and sponged along the edge and kept moving the cardstock until I covered my background and achieved the sunburst look.

My crosses are Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps die and I cut those in soft suede (my other neutral this week) and then used a TIm Holtz embossing folder to add some texture. I used a PTI die for my hill and I cut that in soft suede designer paper.

Clouds are from an MFT die and the stamped sentiment is from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.

I used a Memory Box “wildflower die” for the flowers around the crosses. I cut with Sahara Sand designer paper for the flower stems and then cut again with pool party card stock for the actual
flowers.

That's my card for today. So until next time...........God bless.

Stippled Blossoms Birthday

Happy Thursday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. This has been a busy week for me. My son & daughter-in-law are out of town and I am taking care of the 3 boys while they are gone.

The responsibilities are being split between the 2 sets of grandparents. I have the easier days because of the boys being in school and the weekends are always hectic with their sports schedules.

Today was also our pre-school outing and we went to a farm. The kids really liked it. We had a tour of the farm and got to see the animals and the animal babies.

We fed the ducks and then had a picnic lunch. There is a big playground area there so the kids were able to run, swing and slide for a couple of hours. They were not ready to leave when our day was over.

Now I am back at my sons just waiting for the boys to come home from school. Then there is baseball practice as well as a baseball game. Lots of hustle and bustle before the day is over. But, I like being with them and whatever I have to do is fine with me. I go back home after they leave for school in the morning.

Now onto my card for today. This one I made for the Ways to Use it Challenge #473 on Splitcoaststampers. It was about using something new that you haven't used before.

I used the Taylored Expressions "scribble" cutting plate and cut it in crisp cantaloupe cardstock. I also used a new pattern in the Stampin-Up "sweet sorbet" designer paper pack.

My flowers are from the Stampin-Up "stippled blossoms" set. It's a 2 step stamping set. I stamped in pool party and then coastal cabana ink. The small flowers are stamped in crisp cantaloupe and I stamped off once to get a darker image on my 2nd stamp.

The birthday word is cut from a PTI die. Added some pearl centers to my flowers to complete my card.

Well that's it for me for today. So until next time......God bless.

Easter Peeps

Happy Sunday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. Can't believe how fast the weekend went by.
We didn't do anything super special. Friday was our 4th fish fry at our church. It was another successful one. My shrimp & crab chowder sold out and I received many compliments from customers. The days are long and busy so Saturday is somewhat of a rest day for both my hubby & I.

I did take some more of my cards to the store that is selling them for me. This one I am posting today is one of those. I found out they are closing as of the end of May. The long cold winter was a tough one on their bottom line. I felt really bad for the owners because they are always talking up my card to their customers. I may start selling on Etsy or try to find another local store.

Today started with church in the morning and then we went over to my mother-in-laws to spend a few hours. We helped her hang some new curtains and changed out a window blind. Now it's late Sunday night and I am watching TV and typing up this post.

Now onto my card for today. I needed some additional Easter cards and the layout from this week's Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge #482 was a great one.

I used the Stampin-Up set "a good egg" for my card. Paper pieced the egg shells with designer paper from the "spring mix stack" from DCWV. I also used this same paper stack for my card background.

Stampin-Up candy dots and May Arts chevron ribbon completed my card. That's it for today. time to dim the lights in Charmed Life land for another day. So until next time.......God bless.

I am also entering:
1.  613 Avenue Create has an anything goes; Optional: sights of spring-new life
2Dream Valley has an Easter challenge.

~some bunny loves you~

Happy Thursday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. Well the weight loss challenge at my gym is over and winners announced. I came in 3rd place with a 15% weight loss. I won a month of working with a trainer.

I was disappointed at first then I had to give myself a "talking to". I have lost 22 lbs. -I feel good and I am eating healthy. The competition was the push I needed to do what I have wanted to do for over a year. It's so easy to fall into unhealthy eating habits and then start adding weight. Since I am only 5 ft. 3", a 20 lb. weight gain is big for me. And that works the same in reverse. A 20 lb. loss is really visible on me.

So now my focus is to keep eating healthy, keep going to the gym, and keep the weight off.  The 5 member team that I was a part of during the competition has decided to keep exercising together. I like the idea because it will give me the incentive I need to get to the gym .

Now onto my card for today. This one I made for the Splitcoaststampers color challenge. Becky is our hostess and she chose the color trio of old olive, night of navy and bermuda bay.

I just bought these Impression Obsession "bunny" dies and the Memory Box "massa leaf" die and decided to make an Easter card. I saw this framed Easter bunnies card on the KittieKraft BlogSpot and used her tutorial to make my card.

I sponged the background with Ranger peacock feathers ink to create the sunrays. Added grass cut with an MFT die and wildflowers cut with a Memory Box die.
Used a punch for the eggs that are in the grass. The navy frame is cut with a Spellbinders die. My sentiment is from Great Impressions Stamps.

Well that's it for me for today. So until next time........God bless.
